Matzo Meatloaf

Meatloaf is one of my all time favorites… it brings me back to my childhood. My mother used to make meatloaf at least once a week with a side of mashed tators. She would scream out the window to my brother Morty and I to come in to the table. We never had a problem leaving the stickball game to run inside for mom’s meatloaf.

Serving Size: 6-8

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
½ pound ground veal
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons parsley
2 tablespoons basil
1 garlic glove, minced
¼ teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
½ cup canned tomatoes, crushed or diced
1 small onion, chopped fine
3 matzos, ground fine

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350

In a large mixing bowl combine ingredients well

Place meat mixture in a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan

Bake for 60 minutes

If meatloaf is made correctly should it be kind of dense and not fall apart when you slice it?
I’m trying to create a meatloaf that is right but, I’m not exactly sure what a real meatloaf is as far as texture goes.

I am making a 3 pound meatloaf in my crockpot, its just your basic cheeseburger meatloaf, nothing with tons of ingredients. I heard it was best to cook it using the low setting, how many hours should I cook the meatloaf on low if its ok to use the high setting im all for that to, I just need to now how many hours it would take to fully cook.
